Essential oil of the month: Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus)
The sun is out so I feel the need for a sunny oil. Lemongrass is steam distilled, and is a refreshing and uplifting oil.
Lemongrass was one of the first essential oils I purchased when I was younger, and I used the diffuse this in my oil burner. I find Lemongrass extremely invigorating with its zesty but earthy scent. It can help you focus and is good for times of lethargy. Add a few drops to an essential oil diffuser to fill your room with an uplifting scent.
Lemongrass is good for aching muscles but should be used in low dilutions as it can cause skin sensitisation. Always dilute in a carrier oil if applying essential oils topically.
Lemongrass is also a useful insect repellant. Diffusing this could help prevent those pesky mites.
