Essential Oil of the Month: Palmarosa

Essential Oil of the Month: Palmarosa

When I really started my aromatherapy journey, Palmarosa was one of the first essential oils I began using on a regular basis. It has a similar scent to Geranium, but I find it a more subtle substitute, especially for those who cannot tolerate stronger scents.

Palmarosa is a grass, and the oil is extracted by distillation.

Light and floral, Palmarosa is good for anxiety and mental exhaustion. Similar to Geranium, it is helpful for balancing hormones. Defused in an oil burner the aroma can help to calm and balance the mind. Palmarosa can be used in a massage blend for sore and aching muscles. It is also good for use in skin products as it can support the skins own production of cells and balance sebum, providing a lovely moisturiser, hydrating the skin and promoting a radiant glow. Blend with oils like Lavender, Geranium or Ylang ylang for a truly relaxing experience.

Remember to always dilute, do not take internally or use during pregnancy.
